How Hydronic Radiant Heat Works
A hydronic radiant zone begins at the boiler. Heated boiler water passes through a mixing valve that brings the supply temperature into the range required by the floor, then reaches a manifold that divides flow among individual PEX loops. Those loops warm the floor assembly, which releases heat into the room.
Radiant floors commonly operate at lower water temperatures than baseboards or radiators. A properly sized condensing boiler can be a useful match because cooler return water may support condensing operation.
